Veteran-led maritime operator partners with Ray Systems to deploy bio-inspired, dual-use autonomous underwater vehicles

London, UK — 16 June 2026 — Tiamat Maritime and Ray Systems Ltd. today announced a strategic partnership to deploy next-generation autonomous underwater systems for subsea infrastructure inspection and monitoring.

Following an evaluation exercise conducted in Southeast Alaska in February 2026, Tiamat Maritime has selected RayDrive — Ray Systems’ flagship autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) — as its first-choice platform for underwater infrastructure inspection operations.

The evaluation tested RayDrive in demanding real-world conditions representative of operational deployment environments. The system demonstrated strong endurance and manoeuvrability, and showed notable progress towards an autonomous inspection capability, validating its suitability for sustained subsea operations.

A dual-use platform

RayDrive is a dual-use technology. Its primary applications are commercial — inspecting and monitoring the offshore energy, telecommunications, and aquaculture infrastructure that underpins everyday life — but the same persistence, manoeuvrability, and bio-inspired design that make it effective in those settings also give it clear utility in the maritime security and defence domain.

That dual-use relevance is reinforced by Tiamat Maritime’s veteran-led approach. Although Tiamat operates as a commercial maritime survey company, its team brings operational discipline and domain experience from defence backgrounds — an outlook that maps naturally onto the security applications where reliable, persistent subsea awareness matters most.

Partnership overview

The partnership combines Tiamat Maritime’s experienced operators and survey expertise with Ray Systems’ advanced bio-inspired (“animaloid”) robotics platform, enabling a scalable, cost-effective, and persistent approach to underwater inspection.

RayDrive will be deployed across a range of mission sets, including:

• Offshore energy infrastructure inspection

• Subsea cable and pipeline monitoring

• Aquaculture and mariculture facility assessment

• Commercial vessel inspection and survey

• Maritime security and domain-awareness applications
